Infinitus Pathway
Application Deadline Extended: November 22, 2024
At Viera Middle School, we believe our students have endless possibilities for their futures. For students who desire to go beyond standard expectations, the Infinitus Pathway allows them to distinguish themselves through exceptional academic achievement, drive, leadership, and service. This pathway is a student-selected opportunity where Owls can earn a special distinction for meeting the criteria outlined on the pathway. The Infinitus Pathway is for students who embrace challenge, show outstanding commitment to their school and community, and are interested in pursuing accelerated high school programs and academies.
All students opting into the Infinitus Pathway should have the ability to work independently, collaborate with others, think critically and creatively, meet deadlines, be service-oriented, and be personally motivated to excel. Parents, students, and VMS teachers should work together to decide if the Infinitus Pathway is appropriate for each student. Students will be monitored as they progress along the pathway, and those who do not adhere to the pathway requirements will lose the opportunity to pursue the distinction.
Objectives:
❖ To challenge students to exceed expectations and constantly pursue growth
❖ To inspire innovation and encourage students to embrace failure as a learning opportunity
❖ To develop critical and creative thinking skills required for today’s challenging, complex, and dynamic society
❖ To provide students with the skills and academic background required for success in accelerated high school classes such as AP, Dual Enrollment, Cambridge, and IB.
❖ To help students identify interest areas to pursue in specialized tracks and academies
❖ To foster student connection with school and community
